| Devon O'Brien has had an on-going passion for
creating visions of the future, building personal empowerment,
career exploration and college planning in the work with her clients
Her practice focuses on college-bound high school students and
their parents as well as adults who have college plans in their
future. The depth of her college planning experience
has been built upon the foundation of consultant for an educational
programming foundation; co-director of a youth-oriented entrepreneurial
training program and extensive experience as a college planning
counselor and coach. In each of these positions, Ms. O'Brien has
facilitated the development of solid personal skills, career and
major exploration, job readiness and all aspects of the college
planning process.  Ms. O'Brien's background includes healthcare
administration, benefits consulting, retail management, teaching,
training and facilitating in education settings and program development
in the social services field. This rich background and the contacts
gained, assist her in providing unique career, major and college
exploration opportunities for her clients. Ms. O'Brien received her degree in Speech Communication,
with emphasis on Small Group Dynamics, from the University of
Washington. She also holds a Master of Arts degree in Adult Education,
with emphasis on Training and Development. In addition, she is
a Certified Professional Coach and is affiliated with the Franklin
Covey Personal Coaching program with a focus on The 7 Habits for
Highly Effective Teens. Building upon her education, experience
and professional development, Ms. O'Brien is pursuing a Certified
Educational Planner (CEP) designation. Professional development is a key component
in her college planning work. She is a member of National Association
for College Admission Counseling, the Higher Education Consultants
Association and an active member of her local area Chamber of
Commerce Education Committee. In the spring of each year, you'll
find her conducting School-to-Work "Mock Interviews" or assuming
the role of Principal for a Day at a local area school. |
